The Mohare Danda Trek is a recently opened hiking route that circles the Annapurna foothills. We think this trail in the Annapurna Mountains is grossly underrated, despite the reality of its beauty. If you're looking for an alternative to the crowded Ghorepani Poonhill or Khopra Danda Trek, the Mohare Danda Trek is a great choice.
The trek was established by the community who live along the trail. It is for this reason that the Mohare Danda Trek is also known as the Mohare Danda Community Trek. The locals needed the means to make a living, so the trek was founded and initiated to promote tourism in the region.
The Mohare Danda Trek is renowned for its stunning scenery, hidden villages, lush forests, and welcoming locals. The path climbs past orange groves and through woods of rhododendron, oak, fir, pine, etc. Spending the night in a village is a great way to learn about the locals' unique culture, traditions, and customs as well as experience their straightforward way of life. Amazing panoramas of the Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Annapurna (8,091 m) ranges can be seen from this trek (8,167 m). Mount Nilgiri (7,061 m), Mount Tukuche (6,920 m), Mount Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), and other snow-capped peaks can all be seen from the top of the Mohare Danda, a hill.
On the way to Mohare Danda, you'll stop in communities like Banskharka and Nadi Village. The trek concludes when you reach the lower elevation of Nayapul and catch a ride back to Pokhara.
Homestays and lodges are available at various points along the route on the Mohare Danda Community Trek. All of the proceeds from this trek's lodging are invested back into the local community to improve the lives of its residents. So join this amazing one-of-a-kind trek In the Himalayas with Accessible Adventure.
The best times to hike Mohare Danda are in the spring (March–April) or fall (September–November) (October–November). These are the best times to take a trip to Mohare Danda because of the mild temperatures and generally pleasant weather. Sunny days and mild temperatures characterize these times of the year. It will be chilly in the mornings and evenings, but pleasant during the day. In the spring, the path is carpeted in vibrant flowers, and in the fall, it takes on a festive aroma from the fallen leaves. The clear blue skies of autumn and the blooming flowers of spring make these two seasons the best.
The winter months of December through February and the monsoon months of July and August are the off-seasons. The path becomes slick with mud and landslides are more likely during the monsoon. Heavy morning fog is a common occurrence during the winter months. Nonetheless, during the day, the visibility is excellent as well. You need to take precautions against the chilly weather.
When you fly into Tribhuvan International Airport, a staff member will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall. From the airport, we ride in a car service to our accomodation. We'll make sure your arrival and registration at the hotel are smooth. You can rest for a while, then go for a walk around the area outside the hotel. The option is to turn in early and recharge for the day ahead you're tired . Our guide will brief you about the trek.
We will check out of the hotel after breakfast and travel to Pokhara. The Sorhakhutte bus station is where day-to-day departures of the tourist buses take place. Amazing views of Nepal's middle hills can be had along the Prithvi Highway as you travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Lunch will be at either Malekhu, a town famous for its fish, or Muglin, where the roads to Chitwan and Pokhara diverge. From Malekhu, you'll need an additional three to four hours to reach Pokhara. We'll stay the night in a hotel in Pokhara so that you can rest up for the next day's hike and chill around Lakeside Pokhara.
The Mohare Danda hike begins at the sacred Mahadev temple of Galeshwor Dham, which is located 86 kilometers from the popular tourist hub of Pokhara. From Pokhara, this is the most common route to Mustang. The temple is large and significant, so exploring it is important. From this point on, we will be walking.
We'll have to cross a suspension bridge and walk across the Kaligandaki river. Getting to Bnas Kharka takes us about three hours of walking through various farms and fields. You can spend the rest of your time in the village exploring and getting to know the Magar people and their customs on foot.
After a hearty breakfast, we'll set out on our hike for the day. We will take a three-hour hike through forests and farm terraces to the small village of Danda Kateri, where you can have lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of the Kalagandaki valley. Traveling the remaining three hours to Nadi Village, where you can stay in a community lodge or with a local family, can be done at your own pace after lunch. The village's close-knit community and numerous initiatives, such as the building of a school and the development of cottage industries, make it well worth a visit. The great Nepalese inventor and civic leader Mahabir Pun hails from this small town.
As far as our journey goes, today is likely to be the toughest. The highlight of our trip, Mohare Danda, is where we'll be heading after a hearty breakfast in Nadi. You'll be climbing through a pristine forest today, and you'll be treated to stunning views of snowy mountains like Dhaulagiri. Getting to an elevation of about 3300 meters above sea level today makes for one of the more difficult days of the hike.
The difficulties of the trail are more than compensated for by the breathtaking close-up views of Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri. A great many yaks inhabit the nearby grasslands. We're almost to Mohare Danda, where the locals keep a simple lodge. Views of the mountains at sunrise and sunset are particularly stunning from the lodge.
As the sun rises over the mountains, we enjoy breakfast atop Mohare Danda. The morning meal over, we're back on the trail, but this time we'll be descending. Most of the day will be spent high above the Kalaigandiki valley, where the world's deepest gorge is found, taking in the breathtaking mountain scenery. Lunch will be served after a two- to three-hour descent, and then we'll make the final push to Tikot. There has been a noticeable change in both the landscape and the vegetation as we have descended. After about six or seven hours on the trail, we reach Tilkot. Visit the Magar community of Tilkot to learn more about their way of life.
You have reached the end of your trek along the Mohare Danda. After breakfast at Tikot, you'll hike down to Tipling, where you can take in stunning views of the Kali Gandaki Valley below. After a two-hour descent, we reach the town of Tipling on the High Way that runs along the Kaligandaki corridor.
A private vehicle has been waiting for us to take us back to Pokhara afterward. Depending on how many stops you make along the way, the trip could take anywhere from three to four hours.
When we finally make it to Pokhara, we can rest on the banks of Fewa Lake and toast our successful journey.
As we travel back to Kathmandu from Pokhara, we can't help but feel a surge of pride at having completed the Mohare Danda Trek. Back at the beginning of the Prithvi Highway, we do a complete circle. You could go to Kurintar and check out the Manakamana Temple. We ride a cable car up to the temple of the "Wish Fulfilling Goddess" on a hill in Gorkha.
We will stop for lunch in Muglin or Malekhu and then return to Kathmandu. At last, we've reached our destination, and everyone can relax in their hotel rooms before the next day's departure and celebrate our success. You also have the option of staying in Nepal for a longer period of time.
You are scheduled to depart Nepal today. In order to get you to Tribhuvan International Airport in time for your international flight, our staff will dispatch a private vehicle to pick you up at your hotel. To put it simply, we will get you to the airport on time (3 hours before departure). When you return home from Nepal after completing the Mohare Danda Trek, you will have plenty of pictures and videos to share. We hope you enjoy working with us and will schedule future trips and hikes with us. Accessible Adventure wishes you a safe flight.
