The Chandragiri hill has been hailed as the best viewpoint to see the Kathmandu valley in all its glory as well as excellent views of the nearby mountains and hills that surround it. The Chandragiri Hill Day Tour takes you to this excellent viewpoint which is located at an altitude of 2552m. Kulekhani, Chitlang, the Chandragiri Pass, and Thankot were all stops along a historic trade route that passed through Chandragiri Hill. The hill trip is regarded by locals as a great one-day relaxation opportunity. Not to worry about climbing and hiking as well as the Chandragiri Hill is ascended via cable car, therefore everyone from the young to the elderly can take part in the Chandragiri Hill Day tour.
The cable car ride is both exciting as well as fulfilling as you see views of the villages below. Atop the hill is also the Baleshwar Mahadev temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. From the viewpoint, at the top, you will get to see amazing vistas that include the central Himalayas. Peaks like Annapurna, Manaslu, and Lantang can be seen in all their glory whereas only a small glimpse of Everest is seen if the weather is clear making for amazing scenery. You can explore the area from Annapurna in the west all the way to Everest in the east if the weather is clear and you have personal binoculars. During your hike up Chandragiri hill, you will get the opportunity to see a variety of different animals and birds, including eagles, herons, and a great many others.
There is a statue dedicated to Prithvi Narayan Shah, the King who united Nepal into one country by conquering the numerous city-states that it once was. The statue is there to commemorate the fact that King Prithvinarayan looked at the Kathmandu valley from atop the hills of Chandragiri and fell in love with the valley and so devised a strategic plan to attack and capture the city. Chandragiri hills is famous as a family location, a small children’s fun park also exists there so you can let your kids have fun while you relax amid the beautiful scenery. Rock climbing activities can be carried out here as well. On Dashain and Tihar, in particular, it is open for longer hours throughout the day than it is on other days. The majority of tourists visit during this time of year and enjoy the mountain vistas.
The layout of this location has been made accessible to those with disabilities as well. Elderly people may go around more comfortably and easily without exerting themselves on the walkways and pavements. In a short amount of time, both locals and visitors have developed a love for this location. All lovers of nature, history, and culture must go there at least once.
The spring and the fall are the best times of the year to visit and explore Chandragiri (March-June and September-November respectively). At this time of year, one is able to enjoy unobstructed views of the Himalayas, and the skies are pure blue, providing a beautiful background to the majesty of the mountains. Fall is the season with the clearest skies, while spring brings beautiful wildlife and lush vegetation to the hills. Spring also brings the end of the winter season. After you have finished all of your other activities in Kathmandu, regardless of the season, you may have an incredible tour of the surrounding area because it is so easily accessible. However, during the months of July and August, which are considered to be monsoon months, the clouds and showers make it difficult to see much from the top of the hill, which means that the trip will be messier and less enjoyable. During the winter months, there is a chance that it will snow, and this is the time of year when a large number of people from Kathmandu and the surrounding areas travel to the mountains to enjoy the snow without having to venture too far from the city.
