Known by various names like the Ghorepani trek, Poonhill trek, and others, this trek is one of Nepal’s most popular trek. A relatively easy trek that can be completed within a week, this trek takes you through beautiful rhododendron forests, beautiful cultural villages with panoramic views of the western Himalaya like Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna I and Annapurna South. The sunsets visible from this region are some of the most beautiful sights available in Nepal.
Ghorepani takes you through the famous scenic village of Ghandruk which is a Gurung village will have you immersed in their culture and experience the hospitality of the Gurung people.
The trek gins from Nayapul, a short drive away from Pokhara which is famously known as the gateway to the Annapurna. From Nayapul, walking beside the Modi khola through a trail that gets slightly steeper with time, we reach Tikhedhunga where we stay for the night.
Early morning the next day, we leave the village of Tikhedhunga en route to the village of Ghore Pani. Along the way is the village of Ulleri which offers stunning iews of the Hinchuli, Annapurna South and Macchapuchhre mountain ranges. Passing through a couple of more quaint villages, we finally reach Ghorepani. The rhododendron forests seen from here are an absolute delight to the eyes. Staying overnight at Ghorepani, we move the next day towards the peak of Poonhill before breakfast.
Seeing the picturesque view of the sunrise over the vistas from Pooh Hill will be an unforgettable memory. The views of the Dhampus Peak, Dhaulagiri range and Annapurna Range along with solitary peaks like Macchapuchere, Nilgiri and Tukuche are absolutely stunning. After spending some time at the peak, we descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast and start our long journey to the village of Ghandruk with its historical museum.
Staying overnight at Ghandruk, we leave shortly after sunrise towards Pokhara, where our trek finally ends.
You will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu today. Our agents will pick up you up from the Airport and move you to your hotel. You can investigate the memorable city of Kathmandu including Thamel at night. One of the favorite activities in Kathmandu is walking in the street of Thamel so enjoy your time at Thamel.
We will drive to Pokhara after having an early breakfast. You have two options to reach Pokhara either by drive or by flight. The adventure takes 6-7 by drive and 30min by flight. You will go along wonderful green slopes and waterways. Pokhara is a paradise city for a trekker to enjoy their holidays. Phewa lake is the biggest lake situated in Lakeside Pokhara. We will remain at the Phewa lakeside for accommodation.
Our trek begins today. We will initially drive to Nayapul which is the gateway of Annapurna Mountain. It takes around one hour to reach Nayapul from Pokhara. The trek goes through the beautiful scenic local, natural woodland and rivers. When we arrive at a spot called Birenthanti (1,080 m/3,543 ft), the trail begins to get tough. We meet average Nepali towns on our way like - Matathanti, Ramgai, Sudame and Hile. We pursue the Modi Khola which gets progressively violent as we move through. We reach Tikhedhunga for today's accommodation. It is a great spot to go through your night, being far away from the commotion and contamination of urban settlements.
We will have an early breakfast and head for the town of Ghorepani. We will pursue the Modi Khola for some time and after that cross it through a high suspension bridge. An hour of a trek from the extension takes us to the wonderful village known as Ulleri (2,080 m/6,824 ft). The way from the extension to Ulleri gives an incredible perspective on Hiuchuli, Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) mountains. Ulleri is a more populated of Magar people as compared to other villages. The locals give convenience to trekkers. We won't remain in Ulleri and proceed with our trek further to reach Ghorepani. Banthanti (2,300 m/7,545 ft) and Nangethanti (2,450 m/8,038 ft) are other wonderful villages that lie on our way. We will stroll through profound rhododendron woodland on the last day of the hike and reach Ghorepani.
We will get up much early for today to see a beautiful sunrise over the Annapurna range which appears heavenly. We have to arrive at the highest point of Poon Hill before breakfast. Poon Hill is the primary feature of our trek. Seeing the Sun ascending over the mountains is splendid. You will meet numerous trekkers at Poon Hill viewpoint. Poon Hill offers superb perspective on the Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, V, Dhampus Peak, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Barah Sikhar, Mt. Fishtail, Nilgiri South and Tukuche peaks. We will return to our homestay after a great morning background in Poon Hill. We will start our trek to Ghandruk after having breakfast in Ghorepani. We will stroll through rhododendron woodland in the wake of leaving Ghorepani and arrive at a spot called Bhaisi Kharka. Bhaisi Kharka means wild buffalo touching field in Nepali. The present trek is long and tedious however the way is superb and gives a faultless perspective on the mountains. We will reach Ghandruk at night. You can investigate the neighborhood Gurung historical museum.
Today we begin our journey, from Ghandruk to Pokhara. This hike offers easy walking all downhill to Nayapul. We follow the same route by a drive to Pokhara that we have been followed. Overnight at Hotel.
We drive back to Kathmandu today. Try to get left pane of your vehicle to enjoy the greeneries, mountains, river gorges, villages and terraces during the drive. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant with cultural performances.
Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu. Breakfast only included.
Swayambhunath, popularly known as the monkey Temple, Pashupatinath, one of Nepal's biggest temples, and Bouddhanath, a sizable stupa, are all on the itinerary for today.
Pashupatinath Temple is consecrated to Lord Shiva, popularly known as the "Lord of All Beings," Patan Durbar Square. The museum of Patan houses exquisite Buddhist and some Hindu statues. The museum was originally the palace of the royal family of Patan. Numerous Buddhist Viharas surround the Patan Durbar square including the incredibly artistic Hiranyavarna and Rudravarna Viharas. As the sun sets, nightlife sets in Patan and is one of the earliest Hindu temples. Lord Shiva is a symbol of the universe's destructive side. The Pashupatinath complex is traversed by the famous Bagmati River. On the banks of the river, the majority of Hindus in the Kathmandu Valley perform cremation rites for the deceased.
Swayambhunath Stupa: The Swayambhunath stupa is one of Nepal's most treasured Buddhist monuments. It is thought to have been created when the Bodhisattva Manjushri used his flaming sword to carve a canyon at Chhobhar to drain the waters of the huge lake that served as Kathmandu in ancient times.
Bouddhanath: Lord Buddha's four pairs of eyes are placed in the four cardinal directions atop the 2500-year-old Buddhist stupa in the Valley that was built in the fifth century. This stupa is known as Bouddhanath. This stupa continuously observes people and their behavior. As they round the stupa, Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims may be seen spinning prayer wheels.
You may also take a trip through the nearby Thamel and Asons neighborhoods, which are filled with shops selling locally made crafts, trinkets, and clothing. The oldest market in the city, Ason, is within a few hundred meters from your hotel. You can purchase tea, spices, lovely jars, brass figures, and tea in this market. This day has also been set aside as a fallback in case of travel difficulties.
Three hours prior to your flight's departure, our driver will drop you off at the international airport in Kathmandu for your journey out of Nepal. We wish you a lifetime of memories of stunning Nepal, the breathtaking Himalayan scenery, and the cultural experience you had while hiking Poon Hill. We also wish for you to return home feeling victorious.
