Overview

Archery is widely practiced throughout Bhutan as the national sport. This 8-day adventure tour to Bhutan features archery lessons with locals as well as visits to Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, and Gangtey to learn about the country's rich cultural history.

This cultural trip of Bhutan will also take you to some of the country's most significant cultural centers, including Paro, Thimpu, and Punakha. Paro valley is home to Bhutan's only international airport. The 15th-century Dungtse Lhakhang temple in Paro was first built. The Paro Taktsang Monastery, also called the Tiger's Nest, is 10 kilometers from Paro. It's Bhutan's most famous building. Tradition says Guru Padmasambhava flew from Tibet to Bhutan and settled there. In Paro lies the 1649 Ta-Dzhong, Bhutan's tallest tower.

Thimpu, the capital and largest city, is the best place to experience Bhutan's rich culture. Thimpu Tasichho Dzong, a fortification and Buddhist monastery, using traditional Bhutanese architecture. The Dzong's location on the Wangchhu river combines cultural and aesthetic magnificence. In Thimpu is a memorial to Bhutan's third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Thimpu has a 52-meter-tall Buddha statue. The statue, placed on a hill, offers stunning views of the region's mountains and Thimpu's valley.

Punakha was Bhutan's capital until 1955. It's where the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, tributes to Bhutanese troops killed in 2003, are located. The most magnificent temple is Khamsum Yuley in Punakha. This palace, built by Bhutan's sixth Queen Mother, has frescoes, paintings, and idols. Punakha Dzong Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal built the Dzong in 1637 to take advantage of its location at the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Its goal hasn't altered. This Dzong is famous in Bhutan. Visit the seventh-century Kyichu shrine to travel across time. The temple's name implies that it is a source of peace. A museum honoring the late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche is within walking distance of the temple. Rinpoche's photos and other belongings still exist.

Just a few steps away from Changlimithang Stadium is where the city's most prominent archery competitions take place, and most days of the week you can expect to see arrows in flight. Teams battle against one another to strike targets located 145 meters away as their adversaries comment on shots that miss the target and sing and dance to celebrate shots that are successful. A tournament is quite the spectacle, with lots of friendly ribbing and friendliness, and the bows used can be either traditional bamboo or high-tech carbon-fibre compound bows.

This tour is perfect for those who want to visit the mystical country of Bhutan and get some Archery practice in with the natives in a short amount of time. In addition to the urban attractions, tourists can take in breathtaking vistas of the region's rhododendron and oak forests, as well as the Black Mountain Range, during their travels.

As the weekend Market in Thimpu lasts on specific days only, you will have to schedule your arrival in Paro on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Best Time for "Bhutan Tour with Archery"

Bhutan is a great place to visit any time of year, and each season has something different to offer. From March to May, when flowers bloom in the valleys, is the best time to visit Bhutan. Whether it's because of its festivals and celebrations, its clear skies and views of the Himalayan peaks, its thriving plants and animals, or its beautiful snowfall. But keep in mind that this is a busy time for travelers, so it might be hard to get a travel permit or a room. Bhutan will make sure you have a great time in nature and all of its beautiful children, and you'll take home a memory you'll remember for the rest of your life. From June to August, when it rains a lot, is the "low season," when trekking is less likely to happen. Anyone can go on the Glimpse of Bhutan tour at any time of the year. March to May and September to November are the best times to visit, so that's when most people do. The weather and climate are great for exploring during these times. The rainy monsoon season and summer (June–July) will make your trip more difficult.

We start the day by going to the bustling Weekend Market that is located on the bank of the Thimphu River. This is where people from the surrounding villages gather to sell their agricultural goods and other local products. As we make our way through the crowded market, we get a glimpse of the many different types of cuisine that are consumed in this country. Some of the foods we encounter include fresh cheese, spicy chiles, and mangoes. In addition, a significant number of the stalls sell handicrafts and other goods made in Bhutan. It's a lot of fun to just roam around the market and take in the lively ambiance as you go. There is a good chance that this market scene presents a superb opportunity for taking images and interacting with locals. The Changlingmethang Archery Range may be reached by foot in only a few minutes by heading south from the Weekend Market. It's possible that you'll come across some people practicing archery. The afternoon will be spent going to a variety of businesses selling handicrafts as well as shopping. After spending some time at Punakha, we will return to Paro. Furthermore, the valley is home to Mount Jomolhari, which has an elevation of 7,300 meters and is situated at the very top of the valley's northernmost section. The Pa Chhu, which can be found running through the valley, is formed by the meltwater that glaciers on Mount Jomolhari produce. Kyichu Lhakhang is the country of Bhutan's oldest and most revered temple. The name "Kyerchu temple" or "Lho Kyerchu" may also be used to refer to this location. It is one of the 108 temples that the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo constructed in order to subdue and subdue an ogress that was impeding the spread of Buddhism. The Jambhay Lhakhang, which can be found in Bumthang, is remarkably comparable to this temple. According to the mythology, the construction of all 108 temples is claimed to have taken place during a single 24-hour period.

Visit the Kyichu temple, which was constructed in the seventh century, and you'll feel as though you've traveled through time and history. Because this location is a source of peace and tranquility, you won't have any trouble relaxing here, as the name of the temple makes clear that this is exactly what it offers visitors. A residence that has been converted into a museum in honor of the late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche may be found in close proximity to the temple and is accessible on foot. There are still photographs and other mementos around that were once owned by Rinpoche that can be found in this location.

Thangton Gyalpo, who was also responsible for the construction of the iron bridge, was the person who was in charge of constructing the Dumtse Lhakhang in the year 1433. Because the building of the temple was intended to be used in the vanquishing of a demon, it was chained very securely to the ground. The three realms of hell, earth, and heaven are each represented by one of the structure's three floors. In order to enter the Dumtse Lhakhang, you are going to be required to present a specific permission slip.

Today, we will hike up to one of Bhutan's most important sights. Tiger's Nest aka Taktsang Monastery. The Taktsang Monastery, also known as the "Tiger's Nest" because it is perched on cliffs, has amazed many visitors. "Climbing to Taktsang is a must on any trip to Bhutan," says one tourist. For hikers who don't want to go to the spiritual side, the dramatic, artistically built monument is a treat. Visit this Buddhist relic that is hanging from a cliff. It is a very interesting place. As you climb more than 2,000 feet from the valley floor, you will feel the uphill climb. All of the monastic buildings are cut right into the very steep slopes of the cliff face. Even though it looks scary, there are many ways to get to the monastery complex. There is a path through the forest in the northwest, a path used by devotees in the south, and the "Hundred Thousand Fairies" in the north.

Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew here from Tibet on the back of his wife, Yeshey Tshogyal, the Tigress, and meditated in one of the caves. Guru Rinpoche meditated and came out in eight forms. The place became holy and got the name Tiger's Nest because of this. In the monastery, there are eight caves. Four of them are pretty easy to get to. Padmasambhava is thought to have entered the first cave on the back of a tiger. This cave is called "Tholu Phuk," and the cave where he meditates is called "Pel Phuk."
