Island Peak Climbing

Overview

Island Peak is one of the many beginner peaks in Nepal for mountain climbing. If you’re interested in levelling up from simple treks to climbing Himalayan peaks, our one day expedition is perfect for you. Our expedition only package means that you can get to the base camp by yourself without having to pay extra money for the entire trek. We will provide a climbing guide, equipment and services from the day you reach base camp to the day you return from the expedition up the mountain. 

Island Peak also known locally as Imja Tse is one of the classic peaks for mountain climbing in the Nepalese Himalaya. It is located in the Solu-Khumbu region and is part of the Sagarmatha National Park, which is home to Mount Everest. Island Peak stands at an elevation of 6,189 meters (20,305 feet) making it a massive massif.  You will need crampons, ropes, clips, picks and numerous other equipment along with competent sherpas to help you climb the peak. This is what we provide with our 1-day service. 

Once you reach the Island Peak Base camp at 5100m, we will be waiting for you in the tent with warm tea and food. You will have to let us know which date you plan to arrive at the base camp so that we can make the necessary arrangements. From the base camp you can see numerous peaks like Mt. Everest, Lhotse Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Makalu and much more. As you arrive in the camp we will have all the equipment ready to begin the expedition and our sherpa guide present there will help you train and learn how to use the equipment. This training is essential and will help you stay safe when on the mountain. In the evening, dinner will be served. It is best to rest early. 

As early as 1 AM the next day, we will begin the expedition. After warm breakfast and tea, we take our headlights and equipment and begin the way to the summit. Crampons will be donned and our sherpas will lead the expedition. As we reach the top in around 5 hours, you will be greeted to amazing views of numerous 8000m high peaks including Everest, Makalu and Lhotse. Many of the other peaks will seem to be right in front of you making for breathtaking views. We are above the clouds and the view is indescribable.  After completing our photo session, we begin our descent down slowly and carefully. After the successful expedition, our team will be waiting for you in the tent with warm tea and food to celebrate your success.
