If you are short on time but still want to go on an incredible Safari Trip in Nepal to experience the flora and fauna of this Himalayan country, the Nagarjun Jungle Jeep Safari is the best option for you. Located within the Kathmandu Valley, you will not need to travel outside Kathmandu for this day tour and so this trip can be fit in any of the leisure trips that you have in Nepal. The jeep safari takes place within the Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park.
It is named after Shivapuri Peak, which stands at an elevation of 2,732 meters and can be found in the middle of the country's hills on the northern edge of the Kathmandu Valley but many call it the Nagarjun forest as well. It extends over a territory of 159 square kilometers in total. Climate-wise, Shivapuri-Nagarjun occupies an area that straddles both the subtropical and the temperate zones. Depending on the height and the aspect, the vegetation can be any of a number of different natural forest kinds, such as pine, oak, rhododendron, and so on. There have been sightings of animal species in the park, including the Himalayan black bear, leopard, jungle cat, and rhesus monkey, among others. The park is also home to 102 species of butterflies, including a number of rare and endangered species, 129 kinds of fungus, and 177 species of birds, of which at least 9 are considered endangered or threatened with extinction.
The jeep safari begins from Balaju where you will be taken into the deep forest. We begin our journey early in the morning at 7 AM. The duration of the safari is going to be close to six hours. The highest viewpoint of Jamacho monastery, which is 2067 meters above sea level, provides visitors with a breathtaking panorama that includes mountain ranges such as the Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Helembu ranges.
Those who are interested in getting away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city are the ones who will get the most out of our Nagarjuna Jeep Safari. On this tour, they will be able to take in breathtaking vistas of the surrounding mountains, relax in serene settings, and learn about the diverse wildlife and flora. In addition to being a great place for hiking and sightseeing, bird viewing is another popular activity at Jamacho Gompa. In the dense vegetation of Shivapuri National Park, dozens of different species of birds construct their homes and raise their young. After the hike is over for the day, we will transport you back to your accommodation.
You will be picked up from the jeep at Sorahkhutte. The Jeep leaves from the meeting location at 8 AM in the morning. As it moves through the forest towards the hilltop of Jamacho, you will be able to see birds and other mammals in their natural habitat. We get the permit to enter and move into the forest.
As we climb higher and deeper into Nagarjun, the palace of the former king appears and also appears views of the central Himalaya that can be seen from Nagarjun. Deeper into the forest, monkeys start appearing along with boars and wild cats. If you are lucky you might even get a glimpse of the elusive leopard and the red panda. You will be able to stop along the way to investigate various animals and birds and flora. As the trip reached Jamacho, you can visit the stupa and take in the mountain sights of Ganesh Himal, Lantang and Helambu.
After lunch we slowly make our way back to Balaju from where you will be picked up and dropped off at your respective hotel. The total trip lasts around 6 hours.

There are four different seasons in Kathmandu's climate, which can be described as a typical temperate monsoon climate. The months of October, November, March, and April are ideal for going on the Nagarjun Jungle Safari because the temperatures are quite mild and there is little to no chance of precipitation during these months.
Chitwan is a beautiful place to visit during the months of December and February because the skies are clear and it is the dry season, which makes it an excellent location for observing wildlife in its natural habitat. Even during the coldest months of the year, humidity levels remain high, which leads to mornings that are misty and hazy, with dewdrops clinging to various surfaces.
It is possible for the temperature to reach quite high levels in the Kathmandu Valley during the summer months of May and June. Because of the leeches and animals that hide during the monsoon season (August–September), this time of year is not the greatest time to go on a jungle safari in Nagarjun. The monsoon season lasts from August to September.
