Bhutan’s visa system differs from that of most other countries as they only issue visas to visitors when they arrive in the country. The point of arrival has to be either Paro airport if you fly in, or Phuentsholing if you arrive by land. Although the visas aren’t issued until you arrive in the country, you must apply for one through a tour operator, and have it approved before you even set out on your journey to Bhutan.
The visa application process can only be started by a tour operator, who then sends it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thimphu for approval. Checks are made to ensure that you have fully paid for your trip to Bhutan. This approval process can take over a week to complete.
You don’t need to fill in an official visa application form, just provide the tour operator (Accessible Adventure) with details of your name, address, occupation, place and date of birth, nationality, and passport details. Make sure you complete it carefully as any missing or incorrect information will delay your application approval.
