Nepal boasts eight of the world's tallest mountains and the world's oldest Hindu and Buddhist sites. While Kathmandu Valley is made of three ancient cities filled with enchanting medieval palaces, pagodas, temples, statues and stupas, the rest of the kingdom offers unparalleled adventure options with abundance in flora and fauna. As for its people -- from the Tharus that shares their land with the splendid Asian tuskers in the plains to the brave Yak herders of Dolpo -- they are as amazing as the land itself. Here in its tropical jungles, the Royal Bengal Tiger prowls, and higher up, the legend of the Yeti lives on. Although modernization has set in, the epitome of ancient Nepal remains amongst its people, & there are some communities that follow traditions that go back a thousand years in time, till this day.
Welcome to the Himalayan State of Nepal, the incredible staircase to the top of the world. Assumed to be a rose struggling to bloom between two thorns, this country stands between the vast Tibetan Himalayas to the north, India to the south, and the Indian Himalayas to our east and west. Nepal is packed with romantic landscapes that stir the emotions, with fascinating history, rich art and architecture; the abundant wildlife, adventure and pretty views of Mount Everest and the Himalayas baffle visitors who can’t help but come back to the country again. This is the land where Lord Buddha, the greatest apostle of world peace was born (Lumbini), the only place in the world where Hinduism and Buddhism co-exists, a country where ancient and modern culture blend well with each other. If you are keen for an out of the ordinary experience you'll find it here, in the state of Nepal.
Thanks to the mighty Himalayas, Nepal enjoys the widest range of altitude of any country in the world. Altitudes vary from as little as 70m on the Terai plains to Mount Everest's colossal peak at 8848m. As a result, our vegetation zones include tropical, subtropical, temperate and alpine areas.
In these diverse natural environments an incredible range of flora and fauna flourish, attracting nature lovers all year round. Nepal, an ornithologist\'s paradise, with over 800 species of birds, that include storks, pheasants, cuckoos and enormous birds of prey; displays a special kind of wildlife unseen anywhere else. For those who prefer larger animals, a visit to one of the National Parks could reward you with a sighting of our famous royal Bengal tigers, bears or one horned rhino. You do not have to go far to see the monkeys, many of whom live side by side with the residents of towns and villages! Neither do you need to go to a museum to find evidence of Nepal's long and fascinating history: it's all around you in the towns and villages that dot the ancient Kathmandu valley and lie hidden in the mountain ranges. Villages where everyday life still follows long established traditions, and where time almost seems to have stood still.
